70th Anniversary - 1949 - 2019

Welcome to the Bury St Edmund's Model Railway Club

All model railway enthusiasts, of all levels and interests are most welcome.

Club Nights are held weekly on Thursdays between 7.30pm and 10.30pm and Tuesdays (by arrangement).

We are proud that our club is celebrating its 70th Anniversary.

The Club was inaugurated in March 1949 as a model engineering society and has gone from strength to strength, currently boasting a membership of some 40 souls.

To mark this landmark year, we held our second Open Day at Fornham St Martin on Saturday 9th March 2019. Our Exhibition Manager put together a show for our 70th Anniversary Exhibition that brought together exhibits that showcased the best in railway modelling; along with a good range of Traders. This was held at Beyton Campus of Thurston Academy on Saturday 28th September. It turned out to be our best show yet.
The Exhibition Manager has now passed the reigns onto new hands - but we shouldn’t let him go without saying "thank you" for a job well done these past two years. The report for the 2019 Exhibition can be found in the Menu under 2019 Annual Exhibition Report and

As part of the club's 70th Anniversary, we also booked a day out to the North Norfolk Railway on the 28th June. We had a superb lunch and afternoon tea on a train, numerous train trips and a loco shed tour at Weybourne Station. It was a great day out, and one that was a good way to mark our anniversary year.

Details of our NNR trip can be found here.
