This is our latest N gauge layout which was presented to the club by the family of one of our members. Bill, one of our long standing members immediately took on the task of renovating and improving the layout in order for the layout to be displayed at future exhibitions. The layout is near completion and will then be available for exhibitions.
This layout is entirely freelance. Based very loosely on M&GN (Midland& Gt. Northern Railway) in the steam era, somewhere to the west of Melton Constable on the Gt. Yarmouth to Bourne line in Lincolnshire. It started life as a first attempt by our late treasurer Geoff Peck, as an Engine Shed depot, to display his collection of locomotives. On his passing, his partner Brenda, donated it to the club, and two of us were asked to try to make something of it to exhibit at our own show, in his memory. This is what we came up with. Using board, tracks, points and point motors Geoff had used. We hope you like what you see, and if you are wondering whether you can make a layout yourself.
The fact that this layout is made of largely recycled materials, may give you the urge to have a go. It will provide practice for various skills you will need, to improve if you go on.
