I have a model railway interest in N and OO gauge but also the electronics side.
Being a member of the MERG group has made me more then capable of using a soldering iron on small components as shown in the following photos.

Test Board for testing new modules prior to fitting on Layout this board has Can Usb ( for programming ), Can Servo ( to drive Servos for point switching0 , CanVout ( to give outputs for accessories), 2 x Can Mio’s ( also for driving points , or Led ligts ) and a Can Pan ( for switching and led’s, ie Panel control) , with test board on top ,Showing switches and led’s .A relay board is also shown for frog polarity changing Mid point .

Arduino Uno for controlling Relays switching

Arduino Uno Controlling servos to switch points and Led’s to indicate Point direction. The Push buttons can also be programmed to select a route.

Arduino Nano ( micro controller ) controlling lights ( Led’s ) for signal control Or This could be used to control lights inside a building.

A Test board for the Train Detection system (Merg modules ) for the new Bury layout . This test board has Can USB ( for initial programming). The LH board is the one that is used to detect trains on the track ( 8 inputs possible ), we have 4 of these modules on the layout , This board sends its signal to a Can VInp board, 2 boards used on layout, this board is capable of taking 16 inputs , ( this board convert the signal to a CBUS message ) and supplies this message to a CanVout board, which will put an LED ‘on’ on the control panel to indicate a train on the track ) . We plan to use this configuartion as it reduces the number of wires , only 2 bus wires , giving us 32 different signals,The bus wires are already going into the panel to give us point control .
Modules used on Layout 4 x TOTI modules 8 outputs , 2 x CanVInp modules 16 inputs each ,2 x CanVout modules, 16 outputs for each module .
